Construction Update at Chalk House, Westgate-on-Sea
The past few months have seen huge momentum, with major structural works advancing across the apartment blocks, and terraced houses. The development is now really beginning to take shape, reflecting both the quality of workmanship and our commitment to sustainable construction.
Foundations and substructures are now in place, demolition works fully completed, and service ducting and drainage successfully installed. Blockwork has been delivered across stair cores, corridors, and ground floor structures, seamlessly linking new elements to the existing buildings. A new basement has been excavated and formed to house the plant room which will see the MEP installation begin in September.
Across the first phase, floors have been joisted and decked, with roof structures now well advanced, while steelwork installation is nearing completion and fully protected to rigorous safety standards.
The terraced homes are now beginning to take real form. First-floor pozi joists and panels have been installed, with second floor joisting already underway. On the upper levels, walls are now standing, shaping these houses into defined spaces that showcase the strength of traditional craftsmanship combined with modern building techniques.
Together, these milestones mark a strong foundation for the next phases, and each stage has been carefully delivered with a focus on durability, precision, and energy efficiency. The use of robust, sustainable materials ensures not only long-term performance but also reduced environmental impact throughout the build.
Careful planning and collaboration with our subcontractors will allow us to begin the programmatic fit out of apartments in late September where four new homes will be started every three weeks, and finishing in August 2026.
With structures advancing at pace the site is evolving into a high-quality development where careful planning, and sustainable building practices are central to every step. We look forward to carrying this momentum forward into the next stages of construction, ensuring the project continues to set a benchmark for both workmanship and resilience within the Build-to-Rent sector.
