Restoring Elliott House: Honouring Heritage, Creating Homes – Progress update

Grifo Developments is proud to share progress on the restoration and conversion of Elliott House, a Grade II listed building on Reculver Road in Herne Bay, Kent. Built in 1899, this remarkable landmark will soon enter a new chapter of its history, as it is thoughtfully transformed into high-quality Build to Rent homes.

A key milestone was recently achieved with the successful approval and completion of works to widen the entrance and pedestrian gates to modern standards. To ensure authenticity, five original stone pillars were painstakingly dismantled by hand and rebuilt to replicate the exact craftsmanship of 1899. Each element was reconstructed with precision, honouring the original detailing while meeting today’s requirements.

This meticulous process reflects Grifo’s commitment to protecting the historical integrity of Elliott House. Every step of the project is guided by respect for the building’s heritage, while embracing the opportunity to breathe new life into it as a space where future generations can live and thrive.

Through careful restoration, collaboration with specialist designers, and a vision rooted in quality, Elliott House will continue to stand proudly in Herne Bay — not just as a reminder of the past, but as a vibrant part of its future.
